Rabbi Yisrael Abuhatzeira (1889–1984), lovingly known as Baba Sali (“Praying Father”), was a revered Moroccan Sephardic rabbi, kabbalist, and tzaddik famous for his holiness and miraculous blessings. Born in Rissani, Morocco, into the illustrious Abuhatzeira family of Torah scholars, he dedicated his life to Torah study, asceticism, and prayer. He served as a rabbi in Morocco before making aliyah to Israel, eventually settling in Netivot. Thousands sought his blessings for healing, livelihood, and salvation. Renowned for his humility, deep faith, and ruach hakodesh (holy spirit), Baba Sali remains a beloved spiritual giant whose tomb in Netivot continues to draw massive crowds every year.
